Don't let me see my message with myself (I used to use a chat with myself as a journal of some sort, but it now doesn't open this chat on PC, only on smartphone).Don't remember the last position I placed its window on my desktop (I use 2 monitors, and it keep resetting position and size everytime I turn on my PC).Can't select to forward a bunch of messages in one go, need to send each message by itself. The new W11 design app is just disappointing for me. When they launched the option on Beta Whatsapp Android, I could already use it without needing to update the desktop app. You could already do that on previous updates prior to the redesign one. But with WhatsApp we've got a general purpose platform for chatting that is widely known, and now finally it has gotten real good for both desktop and phone.Ĭombine that with the new ability that you can use WhatsApp on PCs without needing a data connection on the mobile app, and we've got ourselves a winner. The likes of Slack and Zoom don't count because they're made for a very different purpose/audience, and Discord for example is also a very specific audience (90% of non-gamers don't even know what Discord is). Now finally after so long (a decade maybe?) we have a well-built, popular, modern instant messenger for the masses, that works between both the PC and your smartphone. Ever since phone apps became so big the new messenger apps were too simplified and focused on mobile, and only serious business stuff flourished on desktop. I haven't felt this good about an instant messenger on computers since the days of Skype and Windows Live. As a WhatsApp user for a very long time, my support for this platform has been spotty at best, but I think now it's definitely one I'd say is good and useful. Combine that with the new ability that you can use WhatsApp on PCs without needing a data connection on the mobile app, and we've got ourselves a winner. The interface is fast and fluid, and matches the design of Windows. The new WhatsApp app is natively built for Windows PCs and functions so well. This was the latest response they gave me (after explaining the web version was fine and of course the Desktop version was installed): Probably are the 3 monkeys, seeing no bugs, hearing no bugs, talking about no bugs. They completely ignored this tid-bit (and I have asked twice now if the protocol has changed in some way between older versions and current versions of the app and not got an answer to that). I sent a screen cap also showing the app and web side by side with the web showing the mp4 video but app showing the mp4 with download progress icon stuck. it is 5meg and I can see it on the web and android version just fine, so they must be blind monkeys. well, I did that, and the next day (it always takes a day to get a response) got some dumb suggestions that clearly showed they didn't watch the video, I explained the video shows the issue, got 'unfortunately we didn't see your attachment, it has to be less than 100meg". Of course it is making the same suggestion which I will now ignore: "Get a faster app experience, group calling and more!" get a non-working experience more like it! And "Whatsapp support", what a useless experience that has been. I got the 圆4 app again from this thread, and I am back to running how it should be. I am using a corporate PC with zScaler protection, it is probably blocking something, but the older app worked fine. It seems file transfers are broken with the Windows store version, and I suppose chat history comes over using a similar transfer protocol, so that would explain the loss of chat history. I found if people send me an attachment, the icon comes up but a progress bar for download never finishes. Well, I engaged Whatsapp support and I am pretty sure I am talking with a bot, or a monkey, they are giving the most stupid suggestions possible "it takes some time to sync" "reboot your PC" etc. I unfortunately upgraded the version I had on my PC (as it gave a suggestion there was a newer faster version available) and it won't synch my chats when I sign in, only group membership names.
